TREES OF HUPISAARET
Note that this tour is available only in Finnish.
Have you heard of the Wood Wide Web? How can you recognize a Macedonian pine? And what about the massive ash maple lying in front of the former Northern Ostrobothnia Museum – is it an ash or a maple? Can you tell a fir tree from a spruce? Did you know that nut trees grow in Oulu?
Hupisaaret Islands are home to many fascinating tree specimens that are not typically found in the Oulu region. Trees have been planted on the islands since the time of Finland’s autonomy, and later especially when the botanical garden was still located in the area.
During the tour, you will also learn about myths related to trees, as well as shrubs, perennials, birds, and fish.
